Verzenay: a Grand Cru with many faces

Among Champagne’s 17 Grand Cru villages, Verzenay holds a special place. Nestled on the cooler north-facing slopes of the Montagne de Reims, it is one of the very few crus that fully embodies the identity of Champagne Pinot Noir, structured, deep, and refined. Its limited sun exposure slows ripening, helping preserve freshness, tension, and a subtle aromatic restraint.

Michel Henriet farms nearly 5 hectares of vineyards exclusively in Verzenay. The plots span a range of soils, from chalk-rich upper slopes to sandier soils lower down, offering natural balance and complexity. This rare choice to vinify only from this single terroir allows the domaine to offer a complete and focused interpretation of Verzenay, a Grand Cru known for its depth, ageing potential, and unmistakable precision.

A style defined by clarity — uncompromising, yet accessible

At Michel Henriet, the house style is built on a clear decision: the fermentation is always conducted without malolactic conversion. This technical choice, applied to all cuvées, helps preserve natural freshness and tension while respecting the maturity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, followed by long ageing in chalk cellars dug deep into the hillside.
The result: clean, precise champagnes with no artifice, vibrant but never harsh, perfectly suited to both seasoned enthusiasts and those just discovering Grand Cru Champagne.

Verzenay: structured depth meets chalky finesse

A reference terroir for Pinot Noir, Verzenay produces dense, serious champagnes that never lean into exuberance. At Michel Henriet, this character is shaped with clarity and finesse: the Pinot Noir shows its structure, salinity, and even a subtle smoky note, without ever becoming heavy. Chardonnay, present in smaller quantities, brings a linear freshness and chalky lift to the blend.
Free of stylistic gimmicks, these champagnes offer a sincere and precise reading of a legendary terroir, one that’s vibrant, mineral, and deeply faithful to its origins.
