The Terroir of Champagne Jacques Sonnette

At the edge of the Aisne region, the Marne Valley unfolds its rolling hills, bathed in sunshine and tempered by a mild climate. It is here, in Charly-sur-Marne and Crouttes-sur-Marne, that the vineyards of Champagne Jacques Sonnette thrive.

The subsoil, rich in clay-limestone, gives the grapes the freshness and finesse that define the Marne terroir. Here, Pinot Meunier reigns supreme: robust, late-ripening and fruity, it finds in these hillsides an ideal expression, while Chardonnay and Pinot Noir subtly complement the blend.

The Origins of Champagne Jacques Sonnette

The 8-hectare Jacques Sonnette estate, nestled in the hamlet of Grand Porteron, is above all the story of a passionate family of winegrowers, working the vines from father to son for several generations.

As a Récoltant-Manipulant, the estate values its independence: from winter pruning to the marketing of its cuvées, every step is carefully carried out in-house.

A handcrafted savoir-faire that the Sonnette family maintains with care and in the purest Champagne tradition.

The Style of Jacques Sonnette Champagnes

Here, the undisputed star of the vineyard is Pinot Meunier, which makes up 65% of the plantings. Too often considered a secondary grape, it reveals its full potential in Jacques Sonnette’s cuvées: generous roundness, vibrant fruit, and natural suppleness.

Chardonnay, representing 25% of the blend, brings a surprising touch to the cuvées, while Pinot Noir, in smaller proportion (10%), adds structure and complexity.

Vinifications, mostly in enamelled vat, aim to preserve the brightness of the fruit and aromatic purity of the grapes.

On tasting, Jacques Sonnette champagnes reveal balanced, charming profiles, always true to the authentic spirit of their terroir.

Sincere cuvées, ideal for those who seek the generosity of ripe Pinot Meunier combined with the refined freshness of the Marne Valley.
