Courteron - Côte des Bars

Champagne Dubreuil freres

Appearances can be deceiving. Here it is not two brothers, but two sisters who are in charge.

Laurence and Estelle offer us a dive into the heart of the Côte de Bars. The estate's 8 hectares of vines only contain two grape varieties: Chardonnay and the unmissable Pinot Noir de l'Aube. These two varieties are assembled with talent to create a range of champagnes with character.

Courteron, at the heart of Champagne’s wild south

About forty minutes from Troyes, Courteron stretches along the Seine, surrounded by forests and steep slopes. This village in the southern Côte des Bar is part of those still-preserved lands, less visited by tourists and often overlooked by wine lovers. Here, Champagne shows more relief, more warmth, and a clear kinship with nearby Burgundy. The Kimmeridgian soils, similar to those of Chablis, give the Pinot Noirs their depth while the Chardonnays retain beautiful freshness.

It is in this honest and unspoiled landscape that Laurence Dubreuil crafts her Champagnes.

Laurence Dubreuil, continuity in motion

Daughter of Jean-Pierre and Marie-Ange Dubreuil, Laurence hasn’t merely taken over the family estate: she has reshaped it in her own way. After several years managing the administrative side of the business, she decided to fully embrace the winemaker’s life. Trained in the field, she established herself in a traditionally male environment, driven by the desire to carry on her father’s work while expressing her own sensitivity.

Together with her sister Estelle and her partner Sébastien, she runs a small, human-scale estate where every gesture matters. With advice from oenologist Jean-Pierre Rodolphe Lédé, she produces balanced, precise, and sincere Champagnes. The vines are farmed responsibly, treatments are limited, and attention to detail remains central to the work.

A pure and sincere style, chosen for its honesty

At Dubreuil Frères, two grape varieties take center stage: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. No artifice, no complex blends, but the pursuit of a simple and fair balance. These are frank, luminous, and approachable Champagnes — wines of pleasure that express, without embellishment, the character of the southern Champagne region.

That very naturalness is what convinced us. Within the same terroir where other growers in our selection, such as Érick Schreiber and Réaut, explore biodynamic viticulture, Laurence Dubreuil offers a more classic but equally authentic interpretation. Her wines remind us that the Côte des Bar doesn’t need extravagance to move us: sincerity is enough.
