Ville-Dommange - Montagne de Reims

Champagne Fabien Bergeronneau

What makes Fabien Bergeronneau particularly interesting is his very precise reading of his two terroirs, which he works in complementarity rather than in opposition.

Between Ville-Dommange (Premier Cru), which brings tension and aging potential, and Trigny, more generous and textured, he builds wines that are balanced, precise and deeply rooted in their origin.

A new generation that is freeing itself with intelligence, offering champagnes that are more structured, designed for the table as much as for the pleasure of drinking a very good wine with friends.

Two terroirs, a playground for the winemaker

Fabien Bergeronneau is above all a winemaker rooted in his vineyards. Between Ville-Dommange, a Premier Cru village on the Montagne de Reims, and Trigny, on the Saint-Thierry massif, he works with two very distinct terroirs, which he does not try to smooth out but rather to understand in detail.

Faced with this duality, his approach is clear: either blend to achieve balance, or isolate each identity to create contrasts between tension and texture. Ville-Dommange brings the precision of limestone soils and aging potential, while Trigny, with its more supple soils, builds volume and generosity.

This highly refined, almost analytical reading of his parcels allows him to work with a wide range of expressions. Across his 7 hectares, predominantly planted with Pinot Meunier and complemented by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, every decision is guided by the desire to create dialogue between terroirs rather than to standardize them.

A family story in transition

Present in Ville-Dommange since 1590, the Bergeronneau family is part of those historic lineages deeply rooted in Champagne. The modern estate took shape with François Bergeronneau, then developed with his son Florent and his partner Véronique, who structured the operation and created the F. Bergeronneau Marion brand.

Today, a new generation is taking over. Fabien, trained in several wine regions (Beaujolais, Côte-Rôtie, Alsace…), continues the family legacy while developing his own vision. This transition marks a natural evolution of the estate, with a more personal approach and a clear ambition to craft wines that reflect his identity.

The Fabien Bergeronneau style

Fabien Bergeronneau’s work is built on a search for balance between tension and texture, directly stemming from the complementarity of his terroirs. Vinification is adapted to each parcel: wines from Ville-Dommange are often aged in used oak barrels to encourage controlled micro-oxygenation and add complexity, while the Pinot Meunier from Trigny is vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity, notably due to its higher sensitivity to oxidation linked to iron-rich soils.

This parcel-based approach allows for the creation of precise wines, where each terroir finds its place. The blends highlight this complementarity: the tension of limestone, the texture of sandy-clay soils, fruit maturity and overall balance.

Champagnes signed by Fabien Bergeronneau stand out for their precision and depth. Structured, clear and coherent wines that seduce with their ability to combine generosity and precision, with a strong gastronomic orientation.
