A Blanc de Blancs born where Pinot Noir reigns.

A Blanc de Blancs crafted from a terroir of black grapes, this is indeed surprising. Yet, also vintage in 2018, a heterogeneous year in Champagne, this is a bold gamble by the Bérat Schenk family.

2018 provided much more generous conditions, with a hot and sunny summer that allowed the grapes to reach a beautiful maturity while preserving their freshness. At Bérat Schenk, the Chardonnay stood out for their balance, precision, and intensity, naturally giving rise to a vintage cuvée.

After an initial vinification in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, followed by a measured time in oak barrels, the wine gained complexity without losing its natural tension. Aged for six years on lees and dosed as Brut, this Blanc de Blancs today offers a clear expression of Marne Chardonnay: both lively, floral, and structured.

It is an authentic and generous Champagne, perfect for enjoying as an aperitif or with delicate fish. An excellent value for a vintage grower Champagne, crafted with patience and conviction.

Some estates evolve with the times, while others choose to preserve practices that many have abandoned.

Since the 1950s, Bérat Schenk has upheld a commitment to artisanal craftsmanship, where time and precision are valued over volume production.

Oak cask fermentation, manual riddling, and small-scale production are choices that give rise to champagnes of character, deeply rooted in the Vallée de la Marne.
