In the mid-1970s, the Lancelot Royer family decided to build up a rather special reserve. After each harvest, a few dozens of Cuvée des Chevaliers bottles (100% Chardonnay Brut Grand Cru) were placed deep in the estate's chalk cellars, to be deliberately forgotten.

Thus were born "Les oubliées de la crayère".

This unique collection of aged champagnes runs continuously from 1976 to 2010.

Who said champagne couldn't age?

Champagne, like any fine wine, benefits from being stored and aged in a cellar. Over the years, its effervescence becomes finer and more delicate, and its aromas evolve. Notes of fresh fruit give way to a more vinous, more concentrated champagne.

Champagne ages very well, but old bottles are extremely rare!

In collaboration with the Lancelot-Royer family, we offer you access to the private enoteca of these Côte des Blancs winemakers.

About the P Lancelot Royer champagne.

The Lancelot-Royer House was founded by Pierre Lancelot in 1960, from inherited vineyards. It is located in the prestigious village of Cramant, in the Côte des Blancs region. In 1996, the House and its 5 hectare estate were passed on to Pierre's daughter, Sylvie and his son-in-law, Michel Chauvet.

Bringing their touch of modernity to the estate, Sylvie and Michel continue to perpetuate Lancelot-Royer's know-how.

To achieve this, the Lancelot-Royer House is kept at a human scale, favoring the quality of champagne over quantity, producing no more than 40,000 bottles per year.
