N°17 is a coteau champenois (non-sparkling Champagne wine) made by Fabien Bergeronneau in Villedommange.

This dry white wine is a blend of Pinot Meunier (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) classified as Premier Cru.

The vines producing these grapes are grown on clay-limestone soil, giving the wine a nice minerality.

The two years of maturing in oak barrels add roundness and complexity to this wine.

Presentation by the winemaker:

"This is a gem in the heart of the most prestigious sparkling wine land. The Champagne coteaux represent a tiny part of the champagne production, especially the white coteaux, often considered as basic light wines. But I wanted to prove otherwise, by making a wine matured in barrels to highlight my grape varieties and my soil. The wood allows for a subtle exchange with the air which enables the wine to open perfectly. N°17 is a fresh wine combining finesse, character, and complexity."

This cuvée is produced each year in very small quantities.

Aspect: gold dress

Nose: Subtle fruity notes of apples, pears. Toasted aromas, roasted with spices (vanilla, cocoa, etc.). These aromas intensify after a few minutes to go on notes of honey, gingerbread.

Palate: Upright/sharp acidity that brings freshness and structure. A beautiful amplitude loaded with brioche, toasted and fruity aromas. A nice length loaded with spices (vanilla, cocoa, etc.). Persistent in the mouth.

The history of the Bergeronneau Marion champagne.

The Bergeronneau family's wine-growing tradition dates back to at least 1590, year of the first references to winegrowers belonging to this Champagne family.

Today it is Véronique and Florent, accompanied by their children Virginie and Fabien, who perpetuate this wine-growing tradition. Generation after generation, the Bergeronneau Marion Champagne constantly renews itself and experiments with new techniques to further enhance the quality of its Champagne wines.

The latest development to date, the Clos des Bergeronneau, was born in 2007 from a dream to surround with walls a plot of 2.1 ha of pinot noir and pinot meunier ideally exposed on the hillside of Ville-Dommange. This isolation has resulted in an exceptional champagne and a great success for the F. Bergeronneau Marion Champagne.
